Let me take you to Zombie Town……..

Zombie Town - by Laura Barbosa

Roxy and Laurie were about to descend on the parking attendant as he waited for the security guard. They were hungry and ready to taste human flesh for the second time. They were ready to FEAST. They had, after all, only nibbled on each other. The inhuman noise that came from their mouths as the lurched forward was bone chilling, but it alerted their victim of their intention. He jumped out-of-the-way and pushed past them, locking the door behind him.

“Ron, where are you, I have two newbies in my office, and they are hungry. First ones I have seen in some time, they are just kids too. Shame, but too late to be saved.”

Ted, the parking attendant screamed and jumped as someone tapped him on his shoulder.

“Here I am, did I scare you?”

Ted mopped his brow. “No I enjoy a good scream in the afternoon, and jumping is good for my heart. Yes you scared me you fool. I have two hungry teenagers locked in my office and I am more than a little jumpy”

Ron laughed and pulled something that looked a little like a stun gun from his belt. He pressed a button, making sure it was charged. Ted pulled a face. “Does that thing hurt them?” he asked.

Ron rolled his eyes “Hello, they are already dead, next stop Zombie Town”.

Ted’s phone rang. “Almost there Ted, is everyone OK”

“Yes, apart from the two young kids in my office.”

“Kids, what a shame. Kids adapt quickly though” the voice on the phone said.

Adapt, how could you adapt to being the walking dead? Ted shrugged his shoulders and looked across the parking lot at the approaching van. It was a heavy armor-plated military style vehicle. Ted and Ron stood aside as it backed up to the office door.

Ron rapped on the office door “I’m coming in girls, ready or not.”

He pushed the door open quickly and the two young girls blinked as bright light flooded the dark office. Ron shot his Zombie taser at them, making them both shudder and appear to go into some sort of trance. He eased behind them and prodded at them, pushing them forward. Docile, they climbed into the back of the van. Ted closed the door quickly, shuddering as he did so. “Such a shame, so young”

The van driver laughed “Don’t feel sorry for them, they live the life of Riley in Zombie Town.”

He got back into the van, singing as he did so.

Let me take you to Zombie Town, Let me take you to Zombie Town.

Ron and Ted watched as the van pulled away. Two sad, hungry teenage faces looked back at them.

“Is there really a Zombie Town?” Ted asked.

“I doubt it. If they aren’t too far gone they will go to the lab for research. Better for them to be fully turned because incineration is quicker and much less painful than research.”

Ted went back into his office, where he shut and locked the door, before opening a bottle of scotch. He hated the Zombie disease. How long until it took over the world. With that thought, he began to drown his sorrows.

I hope you enjoyed my Zombie series. It was something different for me. Zombies seem to be the ‘in thing’ right now, but I’m over it. This was fun, but I’m done.

Dead of July, my first novel will be released in a couple of months. I can’t wait to see it on the shelves. Watch out for it on Amazon and Smashwords  Preview Dead of July

My first short story ‘Girl on the Beach’ is still available on Amazon and Smashwords. This story started my writing career, and I still enjoy reading it. Although I have received some great reviews, I am going to take it down for a re-edit. I strive for perfection and want to make my first book as good as my second.

Zombie Driver

Zombie shoppingThe house was silent for a while as Roxy and Laurie sat staring at each other, getting used to their new bodies. They opened their mouths to talk, but could no longer form words. Laurie tried to cry, but it seemed that crying no longer worked.

They hugged, both nervous of each other. The smell of each other made them hungry. The temptation to feast was overwhelming.

Roxy stood up and went to the refrigerator. She saw raw hamburger meat on the shelf and grabbed it, throwing half to her friend. They ate hungrily, knowing that raw meat wouldn’t be the meal they craved much longer. For now, it satisfied them.

Laurie stood up and headed for the door, purse over her arm. She looked back at Roxy “uhhhu” was all that came out of her mouth when she tried to speak. It worked though, Roxy got the message and followed her. They crossed the front yard clumsily, stomping on the flowers, until the came to Laurie’s mother’s little red Mini Cooper. The trip to the mall was still on their mind. They were going shopping.

“AHHHHHH” Roxy said as she climbed in the passenger seat.

“OHHHHGGGGG” Laurie answered as she got behind the wheel.

ZombieLogoAs she turned the key, their favorite music came on and their heads bobbed in time to the sound of Maroon Five ‘Move like Jagger’. The music was loud and totally drowned the sound of their wheels crunching over a couple of stray zombies who had made the mistake of getting in their way.

Laurie hit another car as she parked outside the mall but she didn’t notice. The parking attendant started walking in their direction, but when Roxy got out of the passenger seat, he backed off and returned to his little office, where he made a phone call to Mall Security Guard. “Ron, where are you? How quickly can you be over here” he asked.

“On my way, be there in a minute”

It was too late! The two girls were in the office behind him, and they were hungry.

Every now and again, I have to write something completely different, and for me, this is completely different. Have fun with it and check out my other short story and my upcoming novel ‘Dead of July’

Teenage Zombie Vacation.

Roxy was in no particular hurry as she ambled along the road to her house. It was a warm Summer’s afternoon and  school was out. Lots of long lazy days stretched out ahead of her. She hummed a tune to herself as she texted her friend Laurie to see if she could come and spend the night. It was unusually quiet, but Roxy didn’t notice because she was concentrating on the phone in her hand. She was good a texting and had once won a competition for being so fast. She won a new iPhone, her favorite toy.

Zombie1Laurie texted back almost immediately “See you a three”.

“Awesome” Roxy texted back. Not paying attention to where she was going and totally unaware of what was shuffling its way towards her. When she finally looked up from her phone she squealed as something that barely resembled a man, lunged towards her. Roxy stepped to one side quickly avoiding being hit in the face. Her attacker lost his balance, but caught her left shoulder as he fell. “Ouch!. That hurt you old fool, what did you stick in me?” She asked as she tried to rub away the pain. Blood trickled down her arm “Gross. What did you do to me you pervert” she said looking down at him.

The only answer she got was a strange chomping sound as he banged his rotten teeth together. He had blood on his lips and gave her a crazy, demented look as he struggled to his feet.

Roxy ran home as fast as she could, scared and feeling very sick. As soon as she was safely in the house she washed her bleeding shoulder. Had he bitten her? It sure looked like teeth marks on her arm. She didn’t feel too good either. In fact she felt awful. She sank to the floor, her  back against the wall, and lost consciousness.

Laurie arrived at Roxy’s just before three o clock. “Roxy, Roxy, I’m early. Where are you? I have the my mum’s car. We can go anywhere, the tank is full of gas. Do you want to go to the mall? ROXY, where are you?”

The new Roxy crawled from her hiding place behind the door and sank her teeth into Laurie’s leg, the warm blood trickled down her chin. It felt good. Her friend looked down in disbelief and horror as she realized her best friend was trying to feast on her. She pulled away, but fell to the floor. Roxy was on top of her before she could get up. She prayed for death as darkness enveloped her.

Another different story for me. I have never written about zombies before. My stories are usually based on true paranormal experiences. These are fun. Maybe ROXY AND LAURIE can get into enough trouble as teenage Zombies, to warrant a book.

Check out my first short story:

It is short, but taught me to write. ‘Dead of July’ will be released soon. Watch for it on Amazon and Smashwords. For updates sign p to the blog and Follow me on Facebook
