My three books!

I attended a two-day Author conference this weekend. It was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! It was also very exhausting with so much information I thought my head my explode. I learned so much from brilliant people like Guy Kawasaki, Penny Sansevieri, Joan Stewart and many other seasoned writers and social media experts.

There are many things I have taken away from this experience and one of them is to write for the ‘RIGHT REASONS’.

Many writers make huge amounts of money, but there is only a ‘Ghost of a Chance’ of that happening to me. In fact I will be lucky to break even after publishing my books, but it doesn’t matter because the reason I write is to enrich people’s lives.

I am not a great philosopher, and you won’t learn anything from my books, but they may help you escape to another world for a while. They will entertain you and that in itself is an achievement.

My first novel ‘Dead of July’ will be released later this year, hopefully in September Preview Dead of July. I know you will enjoy reading it.

My first short story, ‘Guy at the Bar’ is currently in re-hab and will be re-released in November.

My second book ‘Girl on the Beach’ is still available, but not for long. As I continue along the path as a writer, I have become a perfectionist and my first two books weren’t quite perfect. When they are re-released, the will be.

Our new company

For those of you following my humble blog, you will know I have been struggling to keep up with my writing. When I look back over the last year, it’s not hard to understand why.

In April our new company was launched, and consumed every waking moment. The job kept my husband busy long into the night. He had a reputation to maintain.

I then had to struggle with bookkeeping, expense reports, tax issues etc. etc. (and this is in my spare time)

Then there was the learning curve of how to market, edit, become part of the social media buzz and pitch my book. All of this didn’t  time leave me much time to write, and for a while I became very frustrated. After all, writing is what I love!

Somehow during all of this chaos I had to find time to maintain a house and garden, as well as my full-time job! No I am not asking for sympathy (wouldn’t refuse it if it was offered though).

We had a wonderful trip to Italy, which I shared with you on my travel blog. Whats new?

I am a published author (click on the links below to purchase). I have another book about to be published and within the next couple of months, I will have a free eBook for your reading pleasure.

I feel like I am rolling a stone uphill right now,  but eventually I will reach the summit and enjoy the fruits of my labour.

Guy at the Bar on Amazon until Friday! $2

Raw and original

Hard to believe the year is almost over! I covered a lot of ground this year, but it was really just a practice run for the task ahead of me.

I have learned ‘patience’ whilst I wait for editors and cover artists to do their thing!

I have learned to edit my work as I write!

I have leaned an awful lot about Social Media, networking, internet marketing.

Next year is going to be tough and busy in many ways so I need to learn to ‘switch off’ sometimes and recharge my tired brain.

My humble (and amusing) unedited version of ‘Guy at the Bar’ is still for sale on Amazon. On Friday it will be taken down and will not be on sale again until it is edited and has a new cover. If anyone wants  copy of the first, unedited book I published, so you can laugh and say “I knew her when” you can still buy it for two dollars. When it is “polished” and relaunched, it will be $7.

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!
