They left me with the Treat Lady

Coming Soon in print and ebook

My humans went away and now I’m living with the Treat Lady. Every day, I sit by the window, watching and waiting for them to come back.

Even though I miss my humans, I like the Treat Lady! She gives me lots of Profutto. Fendi said if I look at her with puppy-dog eyes, she will give me bacon, too—and Fendi is right!

The Treat Lady takes me for lots of walks, and we see fluffy little playthings. She calls them rabbits. They are everywhere!

Now I can climb the wooden tower humans call “stairs,” and I am teaching the Treat Lady how to play tug of war with my squeaky toy.

I know my humans will come back soon. Until they do, I will eat Profutto and bacon—and chase rabbits!

Tess and the Treat Lady – A Shaggy Dog Story

Tess sat on the sofa watching and waiting. Jo and Christian, her people, had left her with Jo’s mum while they were on vacation. Jo’s mum was often referred to as The Treat Lady.
“Don’t give so many treats to Tess and Fendi”, Christian would say, “It’s not good for them to eat so many treats.”
Fendi, who was older than Tess, was staying with Christians’ parents for a couple of weeks.
Tess didn’t know how long her people would be gone, so she was watching the driveway, hoping they’d be back soon.

Here I am all alone with this human who doesn’t speak dog! She’s always busy, she’s forgotten about me already.

The Treat Lady had a real name, it was Sandra. “Hey Tess, cheer up, we’re going to have fun together.”

Fun, I not having any fun, I’m bored.

“Oh dear, you don’t look very happy at all, let me finish sorting out my bank account and then we can go for a walk.”

Did you say walk?

Tess leapt from the sofa, skidding on the wooden floor, and ran across to where Sandra was sitting.

Come on, walk, you said walk.

Sandra laughed as the champagne colored bundle of fluffiness pawed her leg. Tess’s turbo charged tail was wagging just as fast as it could and her little pink tongue hung out of her mouth. She was panting in anticipation.

Come on, you said walk, I heard you.

“I need to remember not to say that word. I needed a break anyway. Come on, we can walk for a while.”

Moving Right Along

I’ve been dragging my feet a little. I loved writing about Princess Tess, but once the book was finished, I was terrified.
What if it’s no good?
What if no one likes it?
I’ve never written a children’s book before.

Now I’m a little more optimistic. My daughter LOVES the book, which means a lot to me. My editor enjoyed reading it and said there were “laugh out loud” moments. Laughing is good, and Princess Tess is funny.

So I took a deep breath and started moving right along.

The cover is being designed and I’m preparing my bio and a summary of the story so hopefully in May, this finished, fun filled book will be available on Amazon. There is an ebook of course, but also a print copy so if you need a smiling Princess looking at you from your coffee table, it will be available. This is the first book I’ve written in quite some time so this is an exciting moment for me.

Princess Tess and Her Mess is the book you’ll enjoy reading to your kids and grandkids, especially if they like animals. Book Two Princess Tess Tales is already in the works. I wouldn’t want you to have to wait too long now would I?

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for updates.
